Dr. Erich E. Vad is a strategic consultant based in Grünwald near Munich.
He specializes in strategic industrial consulting, international security, risk assessment and business development. He also administers workshops for top-level executives and government officials in Germany and abroad.
Erich Vad is a former General of the Bundeswehr and served as German Chancellor Angela Merkel’s Military Policy Advisor from 2006 until 2013. In this role, he was also the Director of Security Policy in the Federal Chancellery and Secretary of the Federal Security Council, Germany’s highest-ranking security body in Germany.
Additionally, Erich Vad served as Senior Advisor for the Conservative Party ( CDU/CSU) in the German Parliament in Berlin from 2000 to 2005.
Prior to and during his time in the German Parliament and Federal Chancellery, Erich Vad served as an officer in the German Bundeswehr. His previous assignments include positions in the German Defense Ministry, German Foreign Ministry, the German Bundestag and NATO / WEU in Brussels.
Erich Vad has extensive experience in international cooperation and possesses a vast understanding of the interplay between the Federal Chancellery, German Ministries, the Parliament in Berlin and International Organizations in Brussels.

Erich Vad lives with his family in Grünwald near Munich. In addition to consulting, he has lectured at a variety of universities in Germany and abroad including The Geschwister Scholl Institute at the Ludwig Maximilian University in Munich, the National Defense University, and Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies.
